Through the Vinyl Siding Institute’s Certified Installer Program, experienced professionals receive thorough training on proper, industry-approved vinyl siding installation techniques. VSI’s certification process involves a combination of classroom training, hands-on instruction, and a written test given by a VSI Certified Trainer. Through VSI’s Certified Installer Program, you can identify and select a qualified installer who has demonstrated the knowledge and skills necessary to install your siding properly using industry-approved and certified techniques. Once you’ve decided to side a home with vinyl siding, it’s important to note that the quality of the installation is just as important as the high quality of the product you select. Using trained, experienced, and certified professionals will help ensure that your home’s vinyl siding will look great and perform well for years to come.

Vinyl Siding vs. Other Cladding Alternatives

As the leading exterior cladding, vinyl siding takes it share of criticism from representatives of competing products. Unfortunately, much of what they claim about vinyl siding is outdated, inaccurate or misleading.

As you weigh exterior cladding options, be sure you have all the facts. Vinyl siding is the number one choice of exterior cladding across the United States and Canada.

Green Performance

Today’s vinyl siding, the most popular choice for exterior cladding in the United States and Canada, delivers recognized environmental benefits to help make and keep homes green.

Throughout the processes of manufacturing, transportation, installation, service life and waste management, vinyl siding scores well on tough environmental measures.

What’s more, vinyl siding has the potential to contribute to achieving more points than other exterior cladding in the leading green building certification programs including the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED® for New Construction and LEED® Homes Rating Systems and the ANSI approved ICC 700 National Green Building Standard™.

Insulated Siding

Insulated siding is vinyl siding with rigid foam insulation that is laminated or permanently attached to the panel. In energy codes and energy efficiency programs, insulated siding is recognized as a form of “continuous insulation,” or insulation installed on the exterior of the building that helps reduce energy loss through framing or other building material.

To ensure its energy efficiency and ability to withstand wind, weather, and impacts, insulated siding can be independently certified to meet or exceed the industry standard for performance (ASTM D7793). Certified insulated siding is required to demonstrate a minimum thermal resistance, or R-value, of at least R-2.0 (insulated siding R-values generally range from R-2.0 to R-3.0).
